Which Ph Paper?! No

چکیده
In anaesthetic practice it is occasionally necessary to make a rapid and accurate measurement of the pH of the gastric contents. A simple and convenient method is to use paper impregnated with a suitable indicator, the change in colour being read against a comparison chart provided with the paper. The purpose of this study was to compare the accuracy of interpretation of five different indicator papers when used by anaesthetists to test the pH of buffer solutions in the clinically important pH range 2-6.

Survival and Chemotactic Behavior of H pylori at Different Media pH
Background: H pylori is a human gastric pathogen. Chemotaxis is an essential factor in colonization of H pylori, but very little is known about its chemotactic responses at different pH conditions, especially in acidic environment of stomach as its natural habitant. Methods: We first determined survival of H pylori under various pH conditions in the presence and absence of urea. Chemotaxis was...
متن کاملReflection as part of continuous professional development for public health professionals: a literature review.
BACKGROUND For many years, reflection has been considered good practice in medical education. In public health (PH), while no formal training or teaching of reflection takes place, it is expected as part of continuous professional development. This paper aims to identify reflective models useful for PH and to review published literature on the role of reflection in PH. The paper also aims to in...
متن کاملOn the canonical representation of phase type distributions
The characterization and the canonical representation of order-n phase type distributions (PH(n)) is an open research problem. This problem is solved for n = 2, since the equivalence of the acyclic and the general PH distributions has been proven for a long time. However, no canonical representations have been introduced for the general PH distribution class so far for n > 2. In this paper we s...
متن کاملThe effect of pH upon the equilibria of catalase compounds.
In the preceding study of the effect of pH upon catalase activity (l), the heme-linked hydroxyl group of Agner and Theorell (2) was not found to be necessary for the enzymatic activity, and we have therefore reinvestigated the experimental evidence for this heme linkage from both equilibrium and kinetic studies. And since many of our views of the heme linkages of catalase are based upon analogi...
